North Saanich is located on the Saanich Peninsula, and is 30 minutes away from downtown Victoria. The district is surrounded on three sides by 40km of ocean shoreline, and is comprised mostly of rural/residential areas. North Saanich is also home to the Victoria International Airport and the Swartz Bay Ferry Terminal.

There is little commercial area in North Saanich, with most land being used by agriculture and residential. Almost all houses are considered to be single detached homes, but there are also many condos and townhouses available. North Saanich land is protected by the Provincial Agricultural Land Reserve.

Some of the main features of North Saanich is the Panorama Leisure Centre, which provides the community with indoor tennis, arena, pool, weight room and other facilities. For golf enthusiasts, North Saanich is home to the Glen Meadows Golf and Country Club, as well as the Ardmore golf course. For the outdoor enthusiast, North Saanich offers many parks, trails, hiking, beaches, and cycling paths.
