Central Saanich’s philosophy is to retain the rural character, agricultural land base, and as much as possible, provide for slow, long-term growth where it will have the least impact on the rural landscape and environment.

Central Saanich is best known for its agricultural land, with pockets of housing ranging from townhouses, family homes, and hobby farms. The two main commercial areas in Central Saanich are Brentwood Bay and Saanichton, which is supported by the Keating X Road commercial area.

Central Saanich offers 32 municipal parks, totalling 82 hectares of usable land. Central Saanich is also home to the famous Butchart Gardens, as well as the Bentwood-Milly Bay Ferry.
